Charlie Watts has been The Rolling Stones drummer for over the past two decades.
When he’s not playing with the "World's Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band", his passion is jazz. He formed a big band in 1985 and toured the States. His music is very much influenced by artists like Charlie Parker.
In 1991 he organized a jazz quintet, the Charlie Watts Quintet, as a tribute to him – other recordings followed: From One Charlie, Warm And Tender and Long Ago And Far Away. He also collaborated with Jim Keltner, The Charlie Watts/Jim Keltner Project, an homage to their favourite drummers.
Keltner said, “Every other drummer that does studio work has tried to emulate Charlie's playing. And none of us has ever got it right, because there's only one cat that can do it.”

Charlie Watts was shot at The Halcyon Hotel, London.

'It was a great shoot to do and it was the easiest location to get to. I was asked to shoot Charlie Watts at the then Halcyon Hotel where he was staying, which was about 70 metres from where I lived. It was just one of those really cool moments to meet not only someone in the biggest rock'n'roll band in the world, but also an amazing Jazz musician.  Charlie Watts was super charming and helpful and incredibly down to earth, even offering to help carry some of my equipment into the room.'
